How we make money

Short version: affiliate commissions. Long version: below — including what advertisers can and can't influence.

Our revenue model

Affiliate commissions only

When you click an affiliate link on this site and end up buying the product, the vendor pays us a commission. You pay the same price — sometimes less, when we negotiate a reader-exclusive discount. We do not run display ads, sponsored articles, or paid placements.

What advertisers can't buy
  • Rankings or scores. Position in our comparison tables is decided by our scoring rubric, not commission rate.
  • Pre-publication review. Brands never see a draft before it goes live.
  • Edits after the fact. We correct factual errors — we don't soften verdicts on request.
  • "Best Overall" / "Best Value" badges. These follow the score, not the cheque.
What this changes about our reviews

We're honest about the conflict of interest: if every product in a category pays us, we have a financial incentive to recommend something. So when no product is good enough, we say "skip the category" instead of forcing a pick. When commissions differ meaningfully between two products we both rate highly, we disclose it inside the article.

Affiliate links are tagged rel="sponsored nofollow" per Google's guidelines and labelled "Affiliate link" on hover.
